Strong Reaction to the Concept of the 2024 Ram 1500 REV Electric Pickup Truck

We are only a few months away from seeing the production version of the full-size electric pickup truck known as the 2024 Ram 1500 REV. Early reactions to the concept on which it was based indicate that the brand is moving in the right direction. Stellantis held a splashy press conference in January at CES in Las Vegas, where the Ram 1500 Revolution truck concept made its global debut. MotorTrend broke the news at the time that the production model's name would be changed to REV.

Mike Koval Jr., CEO of Ram Brand, confirmed this week at the Chicago Auto Show that the truck will indeed be known as the Ram 1500 REV when it goes on sale next year. He didn't say when production would start in 2024 or where it would be built. However, he claims that the final product will be available in a few months. Koval claims that since the Revolution concept was unveiled on stage at CES in Vegas, there has been an overwhelming response.

He tells MotorTrend in an interview that he was taken aback by the applause and the moment's weight. He got choked up. It was the first sign that they had been successful.

Minor Modifications to the Design The production REV's design is largely locked in, but there is room for some minor adjustments. He asserts that, given the response to the concept, no significant modifications are required, and that it is time to put pen to paper as production gets closer. The trick is to make a truck that is modern but not space age like George Jetson's. The conclusion is that the final version will be less radical than the concept. "You don't leave your core," Koval says about Ram's devoted clientele.

It is anticipated that the crew cab of the REV will have regular doors, Ramboxes that are approximately twice as big as those on the current Ram, tracks that run from the trunk through the cabin and extend to the end of the pickup bed, and jump seats in the third row that are removable, a first in the industry.

The Revolution concept will exhibit at the New York International Auto Show this spring after the Chicago Auto Show and the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.

After the REV EV hits the market, Ram will continue to produce 1500s with a gas engine in order to provide customers with alternative means of transportation.
